Deferral of AGM

As you are probably aware, we have been unable to hold an Annual General Meeting this year. As a result, the club officers and committee will continue in their previous roles and have agreed that we will not hold one until February 2022. We will however call an EGM if any member requests. Please contact the secretary by email or the contact form if you wish to do this or request a personal copy of the club accounts for 2020 (a copy has been posted on the noticeboard in the club).

Subscriptions

I'm sure you can't wait to pay your subscriptions this year so the good news is that you'll be able to on Friday evenings from 30th April from 6.30pm to 9pm.

Bowling membership is £51 but we will accept £30 from anyone who paid the full subscription last year.

Club Reopening

Following the good news from the BCGBA regarding Return to Play Guidance for Step 3 which effectively removes most of the lockdown restrictions, we will be reopening the club on Friday 21st May with bingo on the 22nd and subsequent Saturdays.

The Premier League starts on 21st May (we are away on that date) and we intend to continue with the Friday competitions until the Mid-Shropshire and Highley leagues commence in late June/early July.

So, until late June/early July, we will only open on Fridays and Saturdays and hopefully, Mondays (when the Mid-Shropshire team are at home), Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays thereafter.

Green Reopening

A lot of work has been carried out on the island following the flooding at the end of January, many thanks to Pete Driver and Peter Hayne for their efforts.

We hope to open the No.2 green on Monday 29th March. Recent additional renovation work on the No.1 means that it will be reopened later.

Please note though that this will depend on confirmation from the BCGBA which is expected soon.

Note also that the clubhouse will not be open so toilet facilities will not be available.

The procedure will be the same as when we opened last May:

  • You must not enter the clubhouse, even to use the toilet facilities.

  • Greens will be open from 10am until 9pm - no floodlights (sorry).

  • Four jacks maximum on each green.

  • If other members are waiting to play, please limit your session to one hour.

  • Please log your visit in the book provided in the George Eddowes pavilion.

  • The George Eddowes pavilion will be open and there will be 8 practice mats and jacks. If you have your own, that would be preferable. Sanitizer and paper towels will be provided. If you use the club's equipment, please clean it before and after use.

2021 League Bowling - Your Opinion

All the leagues that we play in have been asking clubs to give them feedback on how many players intend to participate when they are able to restart league fixtures. Consequently, most playing members have already been contacted asking for their opinion. If you haven't been contacted and are interested in league bowling, please contact the secretary (use one of the methods on the Contact page). Note that we are not expecting any league to start fixtures before July.
